Special Guest Speaker! Kurt J. Valenta, presenting "The Beaver - Nature's Superb Engineer" (and often seen residents of the Waterbury Reservoir!)
Kurt will give us “a look at the historical significance the beaver had in the exploration and
mapping of North America. Their unique adaptations allows them to survive year-round in a habitat of their own making. The ecosystem that is created supports a diversity of wildlife while also playing a major role in flood control and environmental rejuvenation.”
There will be hands-on materials, a presentation with amazing photos, and a time for questions and answers. Children are welcome to attend.
Kurt Valenta is the founder of EXORDIUM, an organization that provides outdoor learning experiences for the “young and young-at-heart”. He has extensive experience as a traveler and educator, and we are thrilled that we can offer his expertise and love of the natural world with our members. Don’t miss this fascinating evening!
In addition to our Nature Presentation, we will have presentations on our Loon Projects, Wildlife on the Reservoir, Updates on the season from our On-the-Water Rangers, and information on the current status of the Waterbury Dam Repairs.
